Review of the THE LEE BOYS concert, held at the 8x10 Club in Baltimore, MD on Friday 5/22/09

ROOSEVELT COLLIER, DERRICK LEE & LIL' AL !!

At 10:45pm, the fans at the 8x10 Club were treated to the funky, bluesy gospel sound of The Lee Boys, starting with the song "Let's Celebrate", featuring the vocals of Derrick Lee and the funky lap steel guitar sounds of Roosevelt Collier...the song incorporated a snippet of Kool & the Gang's "Celebrate"; the highlight was the wickedly intense jamming towards the end of the song, especially the lethal drum attack of drummer Earl!!! The next song (I think it's called "On My Way", but don't quote me on that) featured some funky scratch guitar riffing by Jermaine, but the lead vocals were a little too low in the mix (I could barely hear them). "Joyful Sounds", a slower-paced blues jam, sounded like a Robert Randolph track, while the next song, possibly "Say Yes!", was a slammin', countrified blues-rock song with some country-style guitar pluckin' and a good lap steel guitar solo! Bassman Lil' Al provided some funky, funky bass for Stevie Wonder's "Superstition", which featured some nasty synthesizer riffs played on Roosevelt's lap steel guitar and a snippet of Parliament's "Tear the Roof Off the Sucka"...(WAIT, I think I saw Dr. Brookenstein jammin' in the audience....long time seeing him)! "Don't Let the Devil Ride" (also done by The Campbell Brothers) was a slow, blues song, while "Tribute to Calvin Cooke" started off with some standout bass riffs by Lil' Al...Lil' Al and Derrick shared the lead vocal duties. Another song followed, ending with the electrifying blues-rock sound of Robert Randolph's "Going in the Right Direction"! The encore performance featured the Jimi Hendrix classic "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)", featuring Lil' Al on lead vocals....the intense rock jam included a snippet of Jimi's "Purple Haze". The show was over at 12:30am.

SPECIAL MESSAGE TO NON-BELIEVERS
************************************************

HOW TO GO TO HEAVEN?

If you had died the minute you started to read this invitation, would you have the assurance that you would go to heaven?

The Bible says there are 4 things a person must do to go to heaven:

1. REALIZE YOU ARE A SINNER. The Bible says "All have sinned, all fall short of God's glorious standard" (Romans 2:23 NLT)

2. RECOGNIZE JESUS CHRIST DIED ON THE CROSS FOR YOU. The Bible tells us that "God showed his great love for us
by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners". (Romans 5:8 NLT)

3. REPENT OF YOUR SIN. The Bible says, "Now turn from your sins and turn to God, so you can be cleansed of your sins". (Acts 3:19 NLT)

4. RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST INTO YOUR LIFE. The Bible tells us, "Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved". (Romans 10:13 NLT)

Receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior is the next step in your spiritual journey. IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE THIS YET, WHY NOT TAKE A MOMENT
RIGHT NOW AND MAKE THAT COMMITMENT?

Remember, TOMORROW is ***NOT*** guaranteed!!
